Desktop Des kicks off Euro 2004

Following its success during 2002's World Cup, ITV Sport have relaunched Desktop Des to deliver breaking news from Euro 2004 to football fans' desktops.

10 June 2004

The application features an animated version of Des Lynham, who has announced that Euro 2004 will be his swansong, after nearly 35 years as a sports commentator. Sponsored by the DVLA's Personalised Registrations campaign, users can search for registration numbers directly from the alerts window.

Colin Ramsay, Head of Online at ITV Sales, commented: "Desktop Des proved its effectiveness during the 2002 World Cup, so it was a natural choice for Euro 2004. The animations integrate the DVLA's campaign perfectly; the application will keep our users both entertained and informed during the tournament".

CEO of Skinkers, Matteo Berlucchi, said: "Desktop Des offers ITV.com the perfect way to ensure their users don't miss any important developments during the tournament, simultaneously opening up a new advertising channel for their sponsors".
